I'm starting to collect data on chapter boundaries where I can get it. Someday I'll get this idea implemented!
I've wanted to do this for some time now, but last time I tried it, I couldn't find a browser that respected the prefetching annotations. Looks like that was in 2010. Are they better now?
Also, of the 1.5 million pages Comic Rocket is currently indexing, two-thirds don't have Etag or Last-Modified headers, and common webcomic software explicitly disables caching. I assume that <link rel="prefetch"> only helps for cacheable content.
So I'm not sure this particular suggestion will have the effect you (and I) wish for. But when we get some time, we'll look into ways to make it happen!
I've been trying to figure out how that should work. It would certainly be nice to integrate them more closely!
At the least, we'll be deploying a change soon to update your Archive Binge feed if you move your Comic Rocket bookmark for the same comic.
Going the other direction, if you want to set a Comic Rocket bookmark to the page you've just visited from your Archive Binge feed, you can already click the red "Mark This Page" button in the Comic Rocket toolbar.
I'm not sure whether reading through RSS should automatically update the Comic Rocket bookmark. What do you expect to have happen then?
We're definitely planning to expand what comic owners can edit themselves. We've started that first by letting the page owners upload their own banners, and more of the metadata will be directly editable over time.
I'm going to treat the event notes request as a separate issue, over here: http://comicrocket.uservoice.com/forums/70859-general/suggestions/3110706-expand-events-page-so-creators-can-rank-and-commen
I'm interpreting this request as "please track more metadata as well as community feedback about events". In a different request, we also got the comment "Would also love to add data about each convention, like attendence, table fees, average hotel cost..." which seems like roughly the same idea. Either way, this sounds great! I don't have a schedule for implementing it yet though.
This is a great summary of the current situation.
Just so you know how we got here: Initially, we let people enter anything they wanted. When we switched to a single list, we cleaned up the most redundant entries but haven't had a chance to pare the list down further.
Your comments will help as we clean this up. Thanks!
This will happen! I’m afraid it isn’t my highest development priority yet though.
pjf filed a duplicate of this request with these further proposals:
"Give me a button shaped like a 'star' that lets me favourite an individual comic strip/panel/page.
"Bonus points if I can share/feed it to my friends.
"This also gives you global data on which individual pages are the best."
You're definitely right, and I've added this to my to-do list. My current plan is to add an autocomplete dropdown but still allow free-form text. Does that seem like the right plan to you?
Yup, this’ll happen!
